This year has been a year of many changes for Yosemite National Park.  One of the biggest is the name changes of some of the iconic and historical places.

How does this impact you?  For those of you that have Yosemite as part of their lives know intimately these locations and it is difficult to reconcile the new names.  I personally refuse to call the Ahwahnee Hotel the Yosemite Majestic Hotel.  I do still call it the Awhahnee.  Yes, I’m a rebel.  However, for your guests this may present a problem.  The signs in the park that direct tourists to their destinations have all changed.  So for the sake of your guests sanity, and yours here are the names that have changed.

• Yosemite Lodge at the Falls: Yosemite Valley Lodge
• The Ahwahnee : The Majestic Yosemite Hotel
• Curry Village : Half Dome Village
• Wawona Hotel: Big Trees Lodge
• Badger Pass Ski Area: Yosemite Ski & Snowboard Area

You will want to make sure all save the dates, invitations, maps etc.  have the new names on them.  This will cause less confusion and ease the process for your guests.

My fingers are crossed that one day they will be changed back, but until then we will have to suffer on with the new names.  Big Trees Lodge…… Really!??!!
